Single Storey Extension with En-Suite Bedroom and Garden Landscaping

Completed in October 2023, this project gave the owners a bigger ground floor, a larger en-suite bedroom and a fully landscaped garden. The owners wanted more family living space on the ground floor, a better main bedroom upstairs, and an outdoor space that matched the quality of the house.

Building the extension and the garden together

We extended the ground floor to create a larger family area, finished with a veranda roof so the new space connected comfortably to the garden. Upstairs, we extended one of the bedrooms to make a larger en-suite bedroom, so the owners have a proper main suite rather than a tight box room.

Alongside the building work, we designed and fully re-landscaped the garden with new walls, steps, paving and lighting, so the single storey extension opened onto an outdoor space that was ready to use rather than a building site. Managing the extension and the landscaping together meant the levels, access and finishes all lined up.

The finished extension and garden

The finished home has a noticeably larger ground floor family area under its new veranda roof, a comfortable en-suite bedroom upstairs, and a landscaped garden with walls, steps, paving and lighting that works as a proper extension of the living space. This single storey extension shows how a house extension with an en-suite, planned together with the garden, can lift a whole property rather than just adding square footage.
